Europe Circle Time and Culture Fair 2003

Our Europe Circle Time and Culture Fair were a wonderful culmination to our school's study of this esteemed continent.

During our Circle Time, the kindergarteners sang multilingual songs to us, Ms Edgeberg's 4th graders recited a poem about Trolls, the 6th graders presented a skit based on the Pandora's Box myth, and the Hmong Dance group performed a Laotian dance. In addition, the Geography Bee finalists were recognized and the winners were honored. Third place went to Noukue C., Albert G. finished in second place, and Sophors T. won first place for our school. Our Student Council members also made an appearance, pushing the Pennies for Patients drive to help battle leukemia. Thanks to all the students for their eager participation, to the dedicated staff for the innovative projects, and to Ms Dorow, our Culture Resource Teacher, for pulling it all together.

The Europe Culture Fair took place in the evening. Classes showed off the work they had done on Europe. The kindergarteners created artwork based on the Impressonist painters Seurat, Monet, and Van Gogh. First graders performed plays with characters from fairy tales, while the second grade classes presented a puppet version of "Peter and the Wolf" as well as Matroishka-style creations. Third graders constructed maps of Europe and made trolls out of yarn. The fourth grades crocheted and knitted various trinkets along with making troll-inspired creations. The fifth grade classes made artwork in the style of Matisse and Picasso, and the sixth graders put together their mini versions of Pandora's Box.
