| | | | | World Cultures On Stage | | | | "How Music Came to the World" | On May 24, WCMS presented the musical program World Cultures on Stage. This was the first time that all grades participated together in a single program. The production showcased two plays: "How Music Came into the World" was developed and put on by the 6th graders, while "Tiger Soup" featured the 2nd graders. In addition, the show featured accompanying music by band instruments and African drums and choral singing by grades K, 1, 3, 4, and 5. Directors | | "Tiger Soup" | Ed Williams, Dudley Voigt, Stacey Kilton, and Shirley Mier along with T. Mychal Rambo and Rosa Estrada spent weeks teaching theater and music skills to the school. This fantastic production was a result of the tremedous learning experience provided to the students.
Special thanks to General Mills who provided the "Community of Colors" grant and to Culture Specialist Mary Dorow who put together the grant proposal and who coordinated the program.
